Mountain Harbour borders The Appalachian Scenic Trail (A.T.)  It is part of the same national park system that includes Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Great Smoky Mountains.  It is a public footpath that follows more than 2,100 miles of Appalachian Mountain ridgelines between Maine and Georgia.  The longest, skinniest part of America’s national park system and for Northbound thru hikers this will be the last time the A.T. climbs above 6,000 feet until New Hampshire.  Between Roan Mountain and Hump Mountain the trail crosses several balds.  These balds remain a mystery to scientists and offer amazing views for the human eye.  We welcome hikers and offer a variety of hiker related services.  We are pet friendly and Bristol Motor Speedway is only a short distance away. Come breathe the fresh air, hike the trail, or just relax in a rocking chair on the front porch and enjoy the view of the Bear Branch Creek as it flows by below.  We offer lodging starting with tent sites and beds in our Hostel to rooms in the Bed and Breakfast.  Breakfast is available with all our accommodations.

Roan Mountain is most well known for their beautiful Rhododendron Gardens located at the peak of the mountain which are at their peak bloom in late June. For over fifty years Roan Mountain has been the site of the Rhododendron Festival in June, usually held at the State Park. read more…
