ski season begins in mid-November and usually runs through the month
of March. Roan Mountain is located to all of the nearby ski resorts,
including Beech
Mountain Ski Resort.
Ski Beech redefines southern
skiing in the Town of Beech
Mountain, located high in the mountains of Western North Carolina,
as the highest ski resort in Eastern North America, at 5506 ft.
above sea level. With its 1,200-foot vertical, Sugar
Mountain Ski Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina,
and one of few resorts breaking a 1,000-foot vertical south of New
England. Sugar boasts a 1200 ft vertical! The mountain offers skiers
and boarders 20 trails and 8 lifts spread out over 115 acres. Appalachian
Ski Mountain is the premiere winter resort for families and
groups in the Blue Ridge region of North Carolina. Appalachian
welcomes skiers of all skills and styles, including snowboarders!
Nine slopes and five lifts with state-of-the-art snowmaking and
grooming equipment keep you skiing all day, all night and all season
long (ice skating, too)! On Friday and Saturday Nights, the ultimate
ski session in the South is Nighthawk at Hawksnest
Ski Resort!
The happening spot for skiing lights up for late night! Ski from
6pm til 12am and enjoy live music in "The Nest" lounge.

Wolf Laurel is now North Carolina's easiest accessible
ski area (just 5 miles from I-26, off of exit 3.) Wolf
Laurel is a family oriented ski area with 54 acres of skiable
terrain and slopes from beginner to expert. Featuring a double and
quad chairlift, two surface lifts, plus 100% snowmaking capabilities,
and Wolf Laurel is open for night skiing.
